The Beartla Ó Flatharta Céilí Band was formed in 2008 by a group of childhood friends from North Kildare.

We are named in memory of Beartla Ó Flatharta, a gifted piper, button accordion player, and sean-nós singer from Connemara. His musical legacy lives on through his daughters, Róisín and Úna, who are members of the band.

The Leixlip branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann played a key role in our journey. It was there we developed our shared love of Irish music, song, and dance, and forged lifelong friendships. Over the years, we’ve shaped a vibrant Kildare style of céilí band music, rich in rhythm and energy, yet deeply rooted in the tradition that brought us together.

In 2024, after a six-year hiatus from the Céilí Band competition, we made a triumphant return to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, winning the prestigious All-Ireland Senior Céilí Band title in Wexford.

"Amongst Friends", our debut album, celebrates the spirit of friendship, family, and tradition that has always defined our music.

This album is lovingly dedicated to Máire Uí Fhlatharta, Patsy Magee and Mairéad Uí Argáin.
